Back to Ed Tech Tools
Twitter is a service that allows for 280 character messages or “tweets.” Tweets can be thoughts, links to interesting content, images – whatever you are interested in sharing. Twitter allows users to create professional learning networks (PLN). Twitter is one way to share and discover what is happening right now in education and the wider world. For students, Twitter is a way to share their learning in collaboration with a global community.
Educational uses:
  • Give your students (or parents) your ‘teacher’ Twitter account URL to communicate reminders. (Users do not need a Twitter account to see your tweets)
  • Have students reply to return questions to the teacher. This allows everyone to see the questions and the responses
  • Have students create a Twitter account for a character in a novel or a historical figure to demonstrate understanding and provide further perspective
  • Participate in Twitter chats to connect and communicate with people in your field

Getting Started

  1. Create a Twitter account.
  2. Follow @SaskSla.
  3. Look at who SSLA is following and begin following at least two people or groups of interest.
