Back to Ed Tech Tools
BiblioNasium is a social network or gymnasium which uses the power of technology, social networking, gaming and strong data collection to encourage, engage, and excite young students to become regular readers. Its book review features allow virtual bookshelves to catalogue and track what they have read and what they want to read, wish lists of books, and even record the books they own.

Readers can also add their own voice by writing independent book reviews that can be shared with their community. The student written book reviews and recommendations provide educators with valuable data as well as the ability to moderate and publish the book reviews.

Additional features include an integrated virtual reward system, access for parents and students to their Teachers/Librarians Recommended and Favourite Reading Lists, and digital Reading Logs/Reading Records to monitor students’ reading progress. This enables teachers and teacher-librarians to view readers’ favourites and customize recommendations for their interests and abilities.

Getting Started

  1. Sign up at BiblioNasium by clicking “join us” as an educator and visit the site.
  2. Investigate the site guided by Coach C. (Chip) Manzee, who functions as a Personal Trainer and Chief Motivator. Coach Manzee can help find your way around the site; suggest fun activities; offer tips; reward reading achievements and encouragement. Add a few books to “My Books”.
  3. Set up a reading group and create a Challenge.
  4. Have students or colleagues login and LOG their book in READING LOG section to work towards the challenge.
