SSLA Publications

The SSLA publications highlight the latest news on book releases, author interviews, and reviews of books, video and audio titles to enhance student learning.

Written by and for school librarians, SSLA publications offer insightful features covering technology, programs, management, policy, and other professional concerns. The review sections evaluate resources, audiobooks, videos, databases, Web sites, social media, and software of interest to school libraries.


The Medium

The Medium, a publication of the Saskatchewan School Library Association, is designed to provide information of a professional development nature applicable to school library personnel.

While promoting a Saskatchewan voice, The Medium provides scholarly information and resources designed to engender literacy in the province and abroad.

The Medium is published in digital form.

 

Connections

Connections: Policy and Guidelines for School Libraries in Saskatchewan (2008), a document published by the Ministry of Education describes the contributions of school libraries to student learning and presents a renewed vision for school libraries in the province. It is based on research and is intended to provide assistance to school divisions and school staff in planning for effective school libraries that will meet the needs of students and teachers into the future.

 

Standards for the 21st-Century Learner

The American Association of School Librarians has launched Standards for the 21st-Century Learner. This document affirms the importance of school libraries, and reinforces the significance of information literacy skills.

 

School Libraries in Saskatchewan - An Advisory

The Research Centre Report #09-01: School Libraries in Saskatchewan - An Advisory for School Boards (2009) provides a guide for boards of education regarding school library responsibilities and decisions.
